What do you do in your job?
Operating as a Service Technician, the simple version of what James does is conduct repairs on check scanners and teller printers and ensure that results in a fully functional high-quality device. However, James and the entire team of Service Technicians have to approach each device with a dedicated strategy based on the model, manufacturer, troubleshooting, and function. Repairing devices requires talent and research that can take years to accumulate. James is certified in several financial devices, but he and a few other key technicians recently achieved a new certification, RDM Certified Repair Hardware Technician. These efforts made by James and fellow technicians keep Benchmark on the cutting edge of financial technology. James notes that it's not just about conducting speedy repairs but is also necessary to meet Benchmark’s high-quality standards. James takes pride in repairing devices to this high standard because he knows that ultimately the customer will benefit from having a high-quality check scanner or teller printer. How long has James worked for Benchmark? Despite James’ recent achievement as an RDM Certified Repair Hardware Technician, he has only been with Benchmark for three years. He has been such a valuable part of the Technician Team as well as Benchmark in general. His fantastic attitude and commitment to delivering the best for our customers make him essential. He originally started in the food and beverage industry as a server but wasn’t finding fulfillment or career longevity. James earned a degree in Software Development but quickly found that work was tedious and frustrating. His ideal situation was to find a company where he could stay for decades but wasn’t finding any luck until Benchmark. Benchmark quickly made an impression on James with a small culture supported by perceptive leadership and simple hard work. He feels like can grow in his role at Benchmark but that he is excited to grow with us. Success Story James is an advocate for and a champion of customer service even, in his role as Service Technician behind the scenes. His commitment to customer service was foundational in his past role as a server. His attitude, fantastic customer service, and attention to detail gained him regulars and guests requesting him specifically. He has been able to seamlessly transfer this great attitude and attention to his role at Benchmark. James' core values perfectly align with Benchmark's values and create a perfect fit for us and James. Holding on to talented people with a fantastic customer service foundation like James helps maintain and grow Benchmark's success. Hobbies outside of work? Having a social life during these challenging times has been tough. While James is at home he enjoys reading and listening to podcasts. Every so often James and four other friends come together to go on a quest full of magic and danger. Don’t worry no travel or real danger is a threat because they are playing a popular table-top role-playing game, Dungeons & Dragons. Combining passions, James and a friend are developing code and hope to share it with the gaming world soon. Favorite Food? Even more challenging is still enjoying restaurant luxuries. James misses going out to eat and in particular misses a seriously delicious Philly Cheesesteak from Amazing Burger in Duluth, GA. He often stays in and enjoys cooking. What are you watching these days? James has been enjoying streaming and one show, in particular, caught his eye. The Emmy award-winning show, The Mandalorian on Disney+. The show has been exciting to follow for James with its second season debuting in December 2020. He hasn’t finished the second season, so no spoilers, but he is a big fan. One of his favorite episodes was the first episode of season two, “The Marshal”. He likes the Tuskan being on the good side and helping The Mandalorian. Comments are closed.
